Museums & Galleries

bc² personnel have been actively involved in many projects which respect the natural heritidge of the United Kingdom. The Cotswold District Council owned Museum Service cares for around one and a half million archaeological and social history objects. Many of these valuable and significant collections are displayed at the recently refurbished and extended Corinium Museum, based near the bc² main office in Cirencester.

After a two year major refurbishment funded by Cotswold District Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund, the new Cirencester Corinium Museum opened for business again on the 15th September 2004. The refurbished museum is based in the heart of what was once the second largest city in Roman Britain with a population of near 15,000.

Once you step through the historic triumphal arch into the museum, it is easy to appreciate the effort and work that bc² personnel have put into this project to make it the success that it is. One such new feature is a highly advanced computer controlled tour, which was only possible with the Electrical and Mechanical Building Services Engineering that bc² personnel were able to provide throughout the project.

The refurbishment doubled the size of the Museum, was built on the same site as the old building, and created something that can be appreciated by all. As a testament to the high level of finish that was obtained by this particular project, the Corinum Museum was put forward as a finalist in the both the Museums & Heritage Award 2005 and the European Museum of the year 2006 Awards.
