Office Facilities

Providing building services engineering consultancy for office buildings is just one of the ways in which bc² can help new builds really achieve their true potential. Stella House in the 'One North East' office is the new headquarters building of the Regional Development Agency in Newcastle.

As can be seen from the photographs below, the overall building shape is that of a 'square doughnut' comprising open plan and cellular office facilities over two floors with a total treated floor area of some five thousand two hundred meters squared.

bc² personnel were involved in thermally modelling the building to achieve an excellent 'BREEAM' rating. The design proposals included using a mixed mode ventilation system and maximising the use of available daylight. To this end, bc² used Advanced Computer Modelling technology to analyse these design proposals, including consideration of the ventilation and cooling strategies, analysing the thermal performance of the building structure and predicting building running costs.

As can be seen from the photographs below the end product is both a practical and pleasant piece of architecture.
